More Goal Scorers!

Here are two more brilliant Year Three ‘Goal Scorers!’

Please read their wonderful descriptions of a setting. Can you guess what kind of place they are describing?

Which words do you like? If you can think of any ways that the children can improve or uplevel their work then please post your comment!

Thank you for helping us to make our writing even more incredible!

Well done to all the Year Three writers, you really used your senses superbly.

I felt the sand going up and down like the shimmering waves coming to me, also I felt the freezing wind blowing my face off. I tasted the sand, it was dry and disgusting; it tasted like dry cabbage!

I can feel the cold, breezy snow on my hair. I can see the view and the colossal mountains. I can taste soft snow on my tongue. I can hear the bears growling because they are near!

WOW!

Our fantastic Natural History Museum Photos!

Have a look at some of the photos we took on our fabulous trip to the Natural History Museum.

Our photographers did a fantastic job of capturing the day.

What was your favourite part of the day and why?

Keep looking out for our wonderfully written recounts of the trip- they will shortly be appearing on our previous NHM trip post!

Goal Scorers!

Last week during our Writer’s Workshop we all stepped through the ‘magic mirror’ and visited a tropical island, the Northern Lights, a winter wonderland or a sizzling desert! You all wrote some fabulous descriptions and we found it extremely tough to choose our ‘Goal Scorers’ this week so huge ‘pat on the back’ to you all!

Goal Scorer Iyka has very kindly typed up her stupendous work for all to see! We would like your feedback please to help Iyka’s writing to get even better! What do you like about the descriptions? What could Iyka use next time as a target? Parents remember that you can get involved too!

Iyka’s Goal Scorer:

I looked in front of me I could not believe my eyes! In front of me I could see … gleaming, slippery, shimmering, crystal water that glowed in the sparkling sea. Then I looked at the boiling sun that was like the fire it made made my eyes blink all that time. Next I went paddling in the sea and it was sizzling like a volcano. After something hurt me on my leg it was a horrible crab it was hurting my foot all that time. I ran fast out of the shimmering water and onto the boiling sand. Quietly I was stepping on something.  It was a shell that was sharp. It was stinging my foot in the boiling sand. I wanted to get out of the tropical island because things were happening to me. Finally I stepped out of the immense, gigantic mirror I was shocked when I came back home. Last of all when I went to the tropical island I heard lots of swishing noises that were making me enjoy and it was astonishing, loud, and it was really noisy and the wind was breezing, bustling,  gusty and squally but I enjoyed being in the tropical island.

Super Sentences!

This morning in Literacy you have been exploring Alan Peat’s ‘List’ sentence to help you to make your writing even better!

As a class we came up with this sensational ‘List’ sentence about the weather today. We looked outside the window, wrote a list of words to describe the weather (we used a Thesaurus too to think of some even better ‘WOW’ words) and then we used the words to create our sentence:

Read the sentence below:

Sadly it is no longer Summer; the weather is now breezy, gloomy, wet and slippery.

What do you like about our sentence? Parents we would like you to comment upon what you like about the sentence too!

Now try looking at the picture below; write a fabulous ‘List’ sentence to describe the animal. We will share these during our lesson on Monday!

Can you describe this crocodile using a ‘List’ sentence?

Good luck Year 3!

Year 3’s Fabulous Day Out!

On Tuesday we had the ‘best day of our lives’ as we went all the way down the motorway to LONDON where we visited the Natural History Museum! Have a look at our recounts below to find out all of the wonderful and fascinating things that we did.

– First we went to eat our food. Then we saw a terrifying, amazing T-Rex with teeth like a horn; his feet were huge like a shark! After our teacher made all of us  groups. We saw  a tiger and diplodocus and dead  dinosaurs  and some bones and skeletons.

By Mustafa and Ismail.

– Our favourite part was when we saw the electric T-rex because it was so terrifying and it kept on roaring at us very loudly. It had green, silky skin with eyes as orange as fire and teeth as sharp as a knife. We disliked looking at the dinosaur’s muscles because it had disgusting blood on it. We also liked the blue whale because it was colossal and smooth and it takes the space of three rooms. Also people came from Japan, China, Italy and India.

By Serena, Khushi and Aleena.

– One day we went to London and we saw a dinosaur and found a green stone and big dinosaurs with a long tail, small face and long neck. We saw moving dinosaurs and dinosaur bones.

By Priya and Shiren.

– My best part when we all said ‘roar’ and also when I saw  the diplodocus because it had a long tail and we were dino-scientists and we went around the museum and we needed to find a dinosaur and we saw a T-Rex. We also saw a blue whale, it was the size of  three rooms! when we were dinosaur experts we saw a mammal and it was holding  a bush with trees. We drew it and it was massive and enormous and we took loads of pictures.

By Abrahim and Venita.

This Tuesday we went to the Natural History Museum and we saw a giant, huge, terrifying Tyrannosaurus Rex roaring at us loudly. First, we saw a colossal Diplodocus as huge as a castle and then we had lots of fun being Dino Scientists. Then we had our scrumptious, delicious dinner; yummy! Next we saw a Velociraptor claw, it was massive! After, we saw the eggs with dinosaurs in them but some were hatched. We found out that the Icthyasaur is an underwater animal.  I loved our trip and I even liked it when we were on the coach because we saw Wembley Stadium, also we even saw 30 flying aeroplanes!

  By Abhiraj

Firstly we walked into the shiny yellow coach. Suddenly we zoomed to the Natural History Museum; as soon as we got there we saw a colossal, enormous Diplodocus right in front of our eyes.  In the lunchtime hall we got into our groups and we got a smooth, white lab coat and we went to look around the childrens’ bit. Also, we went into the creepy crawly to see all of the spiders, next we went to have our lunch. After we had our marvellous trip to a dinosaur room, it was a giant room because it had all of the dinosaur fossils in it. Next by the dinosaurs there was some stairs, we went up the stairs and looked at the labels of the names of different dinosaurs. There were lots and lots of signs to a gigantic T-Rex which was moving, it was terrifying and horrid. It was looking at us with his beady eyes!

By Alaiah and Meshach

First, we looked at the Diplodocus and went to the eating room  to get the Science jacket, it was smooth and  white also we got a clip board. Then we went off in our fantastic groups to be scientists. I drew a picture of a dinosaur, also I saw a gigantic moving T-Rex. After, we went to see another dinosaur.   We saw a statue that was white and we took pictures with the statue. We had so much fun and we wanted to stay a little longer!

By Alisha and Shawnna

Firstly we went to Natural History Museum and as we entered we saw a gigantic dinosaur fossil which had a long neck and a tall tail. When we went to the green zone we wore amazing scientific dino jackets and we had clip charts with dino books, we were called the dino experts! Suddenly, we went off to search for Ichthyosaur fossils and sketched the dinosaur fossil. Then we saw an enormous dino egg, it also had a fact, the fact was … If a chicken layed two hundred eggs it will make the size of that egg! Also we saw a large robotic Tyrannosaurus Rex, it roared and stared at us, also we roared back!
