Spanish.

In our Spanish topic ‘Around Town’, we have been making our sentences more interesting by using subordinate clauses (adding extra information to the main clause) starting with ‘because’, ‘when’ or ‘with’. We are also using a variety of conjunctions (but, and also) and a mixture of positive and negative verbs.


Translation: I want to go to the ice-cream shop because I want to eat a chocolate ice-cream and also I need to go to the school because I like to study maths with my friends.


Translation: I have to go to school because I need to study maths and also I want to go to the park because I like to play.


Translation: I have to go to school with my friends because I need to study Spanish but I don’t want to go to the station because I don’t like to travel.


Translation: I want to go to the ice-cream shop because I like to eat an ice-cream with my friends and also I want to go to the park because I like to play with my friends but I don’t need to go to the station because I don’t like to travel.


Translation: I want to go to the park because I like to play and also I have to go to the house because I want to drink water with my friends. I don’t have to go to the supermarket because I don’t need to buy an apple.


Translation: I have to go to the house because I want to drink water and also I have to go to the school because I like to study maths with my friends but I don’t want to go to the ice-cream shop because I [don’t] want to eat a strawberry ice-cream.


Translation: I want to go to the café when it is sunny because I like to drink lemonade but I don’t like to go to the ice-cream shopping in order to eat a ‘house’ sandwich [I think he meant cheese – sounds similar] and chips with my family.


Translation: I want to go to the park because I like to play and also I have to go to school because I like to study maths but not to the station because I [don’t?] like to travel.


Translation: I want to go to the park because I like to play with my friends [and] with my mum and also I have to go to school because I want to drink water but I don’t have to go to the station because I don’t like to travel.

We’re growing beans!

Bean seeds

On Friday Year 3 took home a pot of compost that will be home to their very own bean seed!

Everyone will need to make sure their seed is watered and kept in a sunny spot. In time, the bean seed will begin to grow!

Make sure you keep track of your beans progress during your Topic homework this half term.

Our rocket seeds have arrived! 

Our seeds from space have had a long journey. However they are here at last! We are now going to become space biologists and we will find out whether seeds that have been stored in microgravity in space will grow differently to seeds that have stayed on Earth. 

Perhaps one day our findings will help astronauts to grow food in space!
