Report Writing by 3D`s blog editor

Recently the children of year three have not written many blog posts because we have been writing our fabulous reports.  I have finished mine. Have you?  I have done 1,084 words! How many did you do? What has been the highlight of the year so far? My highlight has been working with the whole class including Miss Thomas and Mrs Daniels and enjoying the fun time we have had. I liked doing the reports because we could look back at the work that we have done in year 3 from the start to now. In doing the reports I have gained a sense of pride for what I have achieved this year.

Firstly, we recapped our 2D shapes.  I know most of my 2D shapes but I forgot about the different types of triangles which are isosceles, right handed triangles and equilateral triangles. I learnt the name of a 9 sided shape which is nonagon.  After we discussed 3D shapes.  We were challenged to find the edges, vertices and faces of different 3D shapes.  I looked at a cube, sphere, cuboid and a triangular based prism.  I enjoyed this lesson!  This week I need to learn to remember all the shape names.

Topic by Kiran and 3D`s blog editor

Fire sunToday in Topic we did questions about Light. We had to think of six or more  questions that we wanted to know the answers to.  Then we used books, leaflets and computers to answer them in our red topic books.  Whilst answering the questions we tried to achieve our writing targets from Writer’s Workshop. My target was to use paragraphs. What was yours?

What you the most interesting fact you found out today?

Thunk of the Week

This weeks ‘Thunk of the Week’  has an element of Doctor Who about it because we got so excited by our competition entries in Writers Workshop.

So the thunk is…

If you were a time-traveller, where would you travel to and what would you want to find out about?
