Welcome to the Bearwood Book Club! This half term our book is called ‘The Emperor of Absurdia’ by Chris Riddell. We will start reading this book during class story time. After examining the front cover what do you think the book may be about?
In class story time we have read a few short stories about dinosaurs. What has been your favourite and why?
Please leave comments about books we have read as a class reader.
Literacy – Next week we are continuing to perform poems. This weekend have a look at some different poems. What are the features of poetry? Can you bring in your favourite poem to share with the class.
Phonics-Next week you are starting your new phonics group. Make sure you are ready. Have you been practising your red and green words? Get out your phonic books and get reading with someone at home.
You have chosen your home reading books now. Remember to read everyday and bring in your book as soon as you have finished it!
Numeracy – We are going to learn the year 3 method of adding next week. This weekend prastise your adding using fingers, cubes, counting on in your head and partitioning the numbers to add them. 23 + 15 = 20 +10 = 30 and 3+5= 8 so 30 + 8 = 38
Have a go at using money to add. Get someone at home to help you.
Next week in our Before Man topic we are going to looking at how the Earth was created. We are going to learn about how different religions, cultures and countries have different ideas. Talk to your family, how do they think the Earth was created?
In Literacy we have been performing a poem called ‘I’m walking with my Iguana’ by Brain Moses.
