A poem inspired by Pie Corbett’s ‘A Poem to Be Spoken Silently’.

5M’s Poem to be Spoken Silently

It was so hushed
I could hear the angels
whispering above.

It was so silent
I could hear an ant crawling past
on the dusty floorboards.

It was so silent
I could hear the wind whistling
to the trees.

It was so silent that
I could hear the clouds breathing.

It was so silent
I could hear a pin drop.

It was so peaceful
I heard the snowflakes land.

It was so still
that I could feel a ghost
passing.

It was so quiet
I could hear the raindrops falling from the sky
onto the ground.

It was so quiet
I could hear caterpillars footsteps on a
crackling leaf.

It was so silent I could hear ghosts chuckling.

It was so hushed
I could hear voices in heaven
Whispering.

  1. this reading superhero has great reading powers it might have a power that throws books to evil. It might be a girl, it wears a skirt with a gold belt saying reading and a red T shirt saying library, and black leggings with long silver boots and spends most of its time in the library reading books in an unusual place.

  2. This poem is really good! It is great! I created the one that said: It as so silent that I could her the clouds breathing. Well done everyone! 🙂

  3. I also like mine, ‘It was so peaceful, I heard the snowflakes land!’
    I got more metaphors.
It was so restrained, I heard a rocket go up in space.
It was so hushed, I heard a wolf howl miles and miles away.
It was so silent, I heard the page whisper to it’s next door neighbour.
It was so mute, I heard a baby cry.
It was so quiet, I heard my brain switch on.
It was so reticent, I heard a leaf come off a tree,
It was so hushed, I heard the moon fighting the sun.
It was so silent, I could hear an ant chattering.
