Our amazing visit to the co-operative. By Uzmah

Yesterday we had a wonderful time at school. We went on a trip to our local Co-op where we had to discover fairtrade products and i think it was great. Also it was challenging beecause we had to find out which country the products were from and the price of it.We couldn’t believe how far some of the food travels to our shops!

  1. Did you know that Fairtrade was launched in 1980.

In 1994, the first Fairtrade certified product was sold in shops. Green & Black’s Maya Gold chocolate was then shortly followed by Cafedirect coffee and Clipper tea.

In 2001, Garstang in the UK declared itself the world’s first Fairtrade Town. There are now more than 320 Fairtrade Towns, 4,000 Fairtrade Churches, 37 Fairtrade Synagogues and 60 Fairtrade Universities across the UK.

People from all over England spent £493m on products showing the Fairtrade mark in 2007.

Did you know that every day 8m Fairtrade hot drinks are drank in England

  2. Actually Kamal you are wrong Fairtrade was launched in 1992. Not all facts are right and if you go on the Fairtrade foundation website it has got the right facts.
