This morning we watched some of the video footage of the miners first emerging from the mines with amazement. Everybody felt so relieved that the miners were safe and it was heart warming to see the men reunited with their family. We discussed how they might have been feeling at different points of the ordeal as our bright start activity.
Tomorrow in Writers Workshop you will be imagining that you are on of the miners.
You will write a letter to a friend to tell them all about your time spent in the mine.
How did you feel at different times? – when the mine collapsed – after a few days – when you received letters from your loved ones- when you heard the news that you would be rescued- when you emerged from the mine.
What happened in the mine? Were there any creepy crawlies or other scary events?
How did the other miners react? What actions did they make? Did anybody feel angry? miserable? excited? anxious?
What did you do when you came out of the mine?
This will be a fictional letter that is based on real fact. Include real facts if you know them, but be sure to make your writing lively and interesting!
How will you create suspense? (Short sentences, unanswered questions, building up of tension and excitement).
You will need to describe the events, setting and your feelings in detail so be prepared and come to school ready with a whole load of ideas!

i think that those people where very upset if i was them i would feel very very upset and all i would like to go and see would be all my family and friends and spend a little bit of time with them
When it was on news i felt sad becoues day was stuk for 69 days and thay had a spoon each and i fort thay was hungrey
i think when the miners got out from the mine they fallt liberated. The teachers couldn’t believe that I kno this word! It is a wow word.

If i was them i would be very scared and i woul’nt

I felt really sorry for the miners and I am glad survived. When they were rescued I felt so happy for them and I wish they are really happy with their family and friends.

i could not belive my eyes that there was a small hole and 33 people were in there but they got letters from there family.

I think those peopal where to brave staying underground for holr intiyer 60 day is to much and they hofley got out and they where 20 miles down underground so they ust to go down there normale but this time they got trapteg under neth the ground and there famliy stared to camp there neayer by there and they where criying in happynese to see them and they had a football match when they got out beacause missed TV so they gust had one there and it toke hole 2 days to get the 30 miners out of the undergound they where to happy to come bake uot after 60 days
