Electrical toy making. By Usman

[slideshow][slideshow]In topic we are making electrical toys, some are making football pitches, laser guns, teddy bears, houses and lots of others things too. We are having lots of fun making toys and I think it is a great idea. We are making toys because we are learning about electrical circuits and when we have finished making our toys we are going to make the circuits for them to either make them light up, spin or buzz. We are also painting them but the best part is when we take them home so we can play with them.

Avatar Story by Jaspreet

“Hey do you happen to know where the lab is?”
Shouted Jake to the man next to him. He shouted because the propellers of the helicopter was drowning out his voice.
“Yes, of course it’s the third door on the right down that corridor’’ he replied pointing towards a brightly lit corridor which was bare like a hospital. “Are you James’s brother? Sorry I’m Dan, I was a colleague of his. I was devastated when he was killed on the Pandora mission. ”
“Yes I’m James’s brother and I’m called Jake“ he replied quietly as he had been reminded of the terrible accident that had killed his devoted brother. “When you go through the door the lab is right in front of you” continued Dan
“Thanks Dan” Jake said.”I’ll see you later”.
“Good luck Jake. You will be a great researcher” replied Dan as he turned and raced towards an army tank.
Then Jake rode in his wheel chair and headed for the lab. When he arrived by the lab door he took a deep breath and headed inside.
Inside the lab he was met by Victor the laboratory technician. “ greeting you must be Jake welcome to Starway Lab. I hope you had a safe and comfortable journey and that you are ready for your mission.” Jake replied “Erm yes,yes it was different even if I say so myself.” Victor put out his hand in greeting and shook Jakes hand. Victor was laughing and replied “ well I’ve never heard it put like that before. Ok follow me there’s no time like the present to get started.” Jake followed Victor through an enormous sizable electronic door that made both him and Victor look like ants against it. Jake looked around at all the unusual equipment that greeted him. Jake began to sweat and his heart began to pound in his ears. He suddenly became aware of someone talking to him.We have discovered some creatures and they are called thtarzanins and we have worked out a computer programe that replicates their bodies. “hello sir this is James’s brother” slowly explained Victor. “Are you tough boy “shouted the general suddenly. Jake noticed an Avatar that was addressed to his late brother James. Victor turned around to face Jake “this is your avatar Jake. You can take off from where James left off.”
“This is the one your brother used and now it is yours Jake it is the one he used to try and get the stone that we need to keep Earth alive. He was a good man and it is a great loss to our company.” Victor added. “ Victor continued “I will be going with you on this risky tarzanin mission.” “I will take my brothers place and I will be honoured to work alongside such a notorious company. “Replied Jake. Victor climbed into his machine. Jake was lifted in by another assistant. Suddenly he felt as if he was being hurtled through space vooooooooom!………

they found themselves in the middle of a fight. In the near distance Jake spotted a micro phone so he ran to the micro phone picked it up and began to shout into it. Jake announced “why do we have to fight for a small lump of rock when there are plenty for both of us. Surely if you ask nicely they might share the stone with us.” The general and the chief Avatar came forward and greeted each other in friendship. The general and the chief began to discuss ways to share the stones. They came up with an agreement and the war was now over.

Toy Makers

Year four have been busy designing and making toys that use electricity to light up or buzz. We have started to make our toys this week.

Switched on

The whole of 4G are excited about Topic because we are making our fabulous 4G models or toys. We have been thinking about features to put on our amazing toys like making it glow/buzz/vibrate or even spin around. Also we have been researching about electricity and safety. We hope you enjoy science during Topic as much as we do.

Musical Madness

In music we have been learning how to play with Indian drums with our music teacher called Mr Singh. We have learned how to play one song called ‘We Will Rock You’ by Queen. These are some of the lyrics of the song. Buddy you’re a boy make a big noise playin in the street gonna be a big man some day you got mud on your face you big disgrace kicking your can’s all over the place.
Unfortunately we had no time at all the first week to learn another song called ‘The Circle of Life ’but started to learn it the second week.
Mr Singh introduced to us to a number of drums. The first drum is called the Djemba. The second Drum is called the Dhol and finally the last Drum is called the Tabla. By Gautam and Ali.

We have been learning how to have conversations in Spanish. What do you think?

Our fantastic numeracy lesson in Calthorpe haven By Zara.

Today in numeracy we went to Calthorpe haven and collected data about living things. We tallied down what we could see. Some people went on Bearwood high street and tallied down what they could see and some went to Calthorpe to find what minibeasts live there. Whe picked our own questions like ‘Is there more life at Calthorpe haven or Bearwood high street? And ‘Do the leaves on the tree get bigger the higher up the tree’ and ‘what minibeasts live at Calthorpe haven?’
Tomorrow we will be putting our data into a graph. Some people are going to use a bar graph, a line graph, a pictograph or a pie chart. What was your question and what graph are you going to use?

At Calthorpe Haven we went hunting to find flowers and mini beasts we looked under rocks and logs and we found bees, spiders, wasps, worms, woodlice, ants , beetles, millipedes we also found some flowers that were daffodils, roses, bluebells, dandelions, buttercups, stinging nettles. We went there because it was part of our numeracy. We were collecting data and we were using tally charts. Five people also went to Bearwood high street to collect data on traffic. Next lesson we will draw graphs or pie charts to show our results. By 4G

Imaginary World Update By Aarondeep, Joshan and Ismail.

On Monday in literacy we started to draw our own avatar characters it was fun when we were drawing them .Once we had drew them we had to describe them in detail. Then we played a game where you needed a partner. First your partner draws the head of the creature without letting you know. Then your partner folds the paper to cover the head, and then you draw the body and legs. Then your partner draws the tail. After that we opened it and saw the creature. After we played the game we made our own creature. Some children used images from the internet to create a mish mash evil creature too. By Aarondeep, Joshan and Ismail.

In literacy we have also been going on a web site called sumo paint. We had to choose a picture and just have a play around with the different effects. We have been doing a lot of different things on there e.g. brightness, 3d effects and changing the colour. While that group were doing their activity the other group was drawing there imaginary world. We put lots of weird creatures and plants in our world. If we didn’t know how to draw trees or plants Mrs Griffiths had kindly printed out some pictures for us.

Splash Art Gallery!

[slideshow]The children in Y4 have been using different techniques to produce art work within the theme of Splash. They have experimented with pointillism, collage, acrylic paints and water colours before choosing their favourite technique and creating their final pieces. They also experimented with different shades that they produced through mixing different colours. They used primary colours, secondary colours and tertiary colours to produce these magnificent pictures.
