The Amazing World of Cadbury Chocolate by Sofina.

At home over the holidays I did some research about Cadbury’s and chocolate to be prepared for school and the topic chocolate. I learnt that a chocolate bar starts from a cocoa pod which goes in different countries like Europe, Asia, South America and finally Africa. The inside is called a pulp it looks just like a spoon with seeds. Then they get set in the sun with banana leaves. Then they get dried in the sun. After that they get transported from Africa to Ghana. It gets transported on a ship from a lorry finally it goes to a Cadbury’s factory. I used different colored paper and made it vibrant, bright and beautiful. Cadbury’s have a slogan it is “A glass full of half fun”. In the adverts they have nothing to do with chocolate they just make it fun.

Triangles

Year 4 were learning to use their reflective thinker skills.  They decided to work in their talk trios to learn about triangles.  They wanted to make a Blog Video so here are their presentations fabulously introduced by Mya and filmed by our resident camera man Mike.

What have you learnt about triangles?

Bright start!

Everyday, for the first 10 minutes, we carry out a short activity to warm our brains up, ready for learning. Today we created symmetrical patterns. 4P, can you explain how we did this?

Well Done Jada!

Jada earned the Achievement Award today because of her extra learning at home this week.  Look at her fantastic Get Talking Get Learning homework.  She interviewed people in her family to learn about chocolate.

Jada also made Miss Thomas very happy by bringing the correct clothes for Outdoor Adventure.

The attack of the strange faces!

In Science today we were investigating our tongue.  We tasted jam, honey, sugared water, salty water, coffee, lemon juice and salt & vinegar on the four parts of our tongue.

As you can see from the photographs we definitely challenge ourselves but together we identified how we taste using our tongues.  Even Mr  Daniels had a go and tasted coffee…she called it repugnant.  We correctly identified the sweet, sour, salty and bitter areas of our tongues.   This will definitely help us to become experts at tasting chocolate.

How did you find this investigation?

We should have the pencil because… (by Nathan and Tetiana).

Yesterday in literacy we worked in our talk trios to persuade Miss Pereira to win the glimmering, shimmering pencils. Yesterday our filmers where Chetan, Saadh and Merharpal. They were fantastic filmers because they held the camera as still as a statue. We had to use three magic connectives they were therefore, because and furthermore. As a result we all managed to use them. Our winners were… Lina, Justin and Sawaira because they were fantastic.

Numeracy by Hamza and Jada

In Numeracy today we leant what a protractor is. A protractor is a kind of ruler that you use for measuring and it looks like a semi circle. We had to make a poster and learn about acute angles and obtuse angles. We had to find out how a right angle, acute and obtuse angle was differnt. We also had to think about North, East, South and West and to think about rhymes to keep them in our heads. We had to turn to make different angles.
