Charlie and the Chocolate Factory

[slideshow]For Writer’s Workshop last week year 4 wrote their own spectacular version of Charlie and the Chocolate Factory. As part of our work we jumped into the role of one of the characters and thought about what they would do when they walked into the chocolate room. We had to freeze in position.
What do you think the characters are doing and thinking?

Our amazing experiment on light and our eye sight by Karolina and Dalip

[slideshow]
Today we have been learning about lights and shadows and how to make shadows. Miss let us have an exploration session.
Some people were by the walls and made shadows on the wall when they shone the torch. Also we were finding out how to make shadows bigger and smaller aswell. We were looking to see if every object has a shadow.Remember to be sensible using tourches not to shine it at peoples eyes and swap batteries around!

Bearwood lights camera action By Bismah and Harjun

This morning Dom Breadmore came in and told us about different films and how to make one.We have learnt lots about working as a team because we have formed a production company and we are all colleagues.
All of year 4 now know some information aout making a film and who invented the first wooden camera. It was the Lumiere brothers. In the afternoon we were in groups and we held a staff meeting to decide how to move the project forward. We can’t wait to carry on with our work on Wednesday! We also learned about something called a green screen and are looking forward to using one!

In the afternoon we played lots of concentration, drama and freeze frame games to show emotions. You can see these in the photos below.
Even the teachers joined in!

George comes to school!

[slideshow]This morning in Writers worshop we had brilliant fun writing our own versions of ‘The Hare and the Tortoise’. However there was a twist- we kept the character of the tortoise but we could choose any other speedy animal for him to race against!
We thought really carefully about how to describe the tortoise. To help us Miss Martindale bought in her pet tortoise who is called George.
Many of us had never seen a real tortoise before!

Diwali activities by Jaspreet & Shawon

Today in topic we have done loads of fun activity’s and we were in groups of four.

Children could choose different activities but the aim was to explain our views and ideas clearly.

We decided to learn and retell the Diwali story of Rama and Sita. We read the story and made some puppets glued it on card and cut it and colour it and sellotaped it onto straw and performed to the class.

Another group researched fire safety
and presented their work infront of the whole class. We now know it is safer to go to a fire display than to have fireworks at home so keep safe.
And the last group researched about Diwali to understand how people celebrate at Diwali. They then also prepared a presentation for the class but we have these to look forward to.
