This week reception have listened to the story ‘Freddy and the Fairy’ they then made their own fairies to hang in the trees. We used leaves, feathers, pipe cleaners and sticks to make our beautiful fairies. Well done!

Jeremy Strong came to Bearwood today!

Lots of us dressed up as our favourite characters from stories written by Jeremy.

Jeremy came down to read “Nellie Choc-Ice” to us and ask about our favourite stories and we had the chance to ask Jeremy questions. 

This week we enjoyed our family forest experience!

We got our hands dirty making muddy face sculptures, that we stuck around the forest and on trees.

We learnt all about camouflage; searching for the hidden frogs, playing a hunt the eggs game and decorating moths to blend in with the natural environment.

We made bird feeders with creamed coconut and seeds, making a promise to feed them all through the winter. 

We also made stick men and decorated them with eyes and ribbons. These were taken home to live with us.

We all had a fantastic time and can’t wait to visit Calthorpe Haven again in year 1.

Today we drew and talk about our favourite part of the story. We showed our pictures of the story to our friends.

In talk for writing we are sharing the story “The Ugly Duckling”

We have used our text maps and actions to retell to story to each other.

We had a wonderful time at Ash End House Farm. The children had the opportunity to see lots of animals, and feed them too. We also sang lots of nursery rhymes, based on the animals we saw. At the end of the day, the children put on their own production of “The Three Little Pigs.” What a fantastic day!

During receptions time in Forest School they built a troll bridge and acted out the story of The Tree Bill Goats Gruff. They did a fantastic job, well done reception!

Thank you to all the parents who joined us on our trip to Thimblemill Library. The children all had the opportunity to join the library, and to look at the vast array of books on offer. We were then really lucky to have a story session with Gavin, the local story teller. He made us laugh, and we loved his stories. He also advised parents to read to their child every night, but also to act stories out and to have fun telling stories at home with your child. We all loved our library visit. Thank you to the library and Gavin for making it so fantastic for us!
