Parent Workshop

Thank you to all the parents who attended our Parent Workshop.  It is wonderful to have such supportive parents.  If you have any further questions about how you can support your child at home, please do not hesitate to contact any member of the Reception team.

Snow, Snow, Snow!

We decided to put snow in the water tray and the children really enjoyed feeling the snow using vocabulary such as “crunchy” and “slippery.” They played with the Arctic animals acting out scenes from Happy Feet together.

Parent Workshop

We would like to remind all parents that we are having another Parent Workshop.  This will give you an opportunity to see what phonics group your child is now in and also to see how you can support your child at home.  We will have some activities for you to complete together at the end of the session and for all parents that attend there is even a little gift for you to collect!  The dates for these workshops are as follows:

Class RS – Tuesday 29th January 2013

Class RD – Wednesday 30th January 2013

Please come in to school with your child on the morning, ready for the workshop to begin at 9am.  We look forward to seeing you all there!

Happy Feet

This week we have been looking at clips from the film ” Happy Feet.” We have discussed the character of Mumble thinking of different words to describe him. We have also looked closely at non-fiction books, using these to create a penguin fact file!

Happy Feet

Next week we shall be using the film “Happy Feet” to support our work on Ice Age.  Research penguins with your child; using books and the internet to find information .  We cannot wait to hear all your interesting facts on penguins!

The Snowman

As part of our topic on Ice Age we are looking at the short film “The Snowman” this week. Watch this film with your child focusing on the music and how it makes them feel e.g. calm, scared, excited.
