After investigating where seeds grow best last week we have now planted beans and tomato seeds. We will be looking after our seeds by watering them, keeping them warm and giving them lots of sunlight.
Mrs Hadley came to us with a problem- she can no longer buy her favourite vegetable soup in the shops. We are going to learn all about vegetables and how to grow them before solving Mrs Hadley’s problem by making her favourite vegetable soup.
thus week we have looked at the celebrations that happen for Diwali and have used used our Art skills with our Creative, Sharing and Persistence powers to create Rangoli patterns by colouring them and collating them using coloured rice, lentils and dhal. Here are some pictures of us working hard.
After buying poppies in school we used our History skills to find out about why people wear poppies and how they are made. We then used our Art skills to collage and draw poppy pictures. Some children also made their own remembrance crosses.
We used our History skills to learn about why we have fireworks and fires on Bonfire night and then used our Art skills to create firework pictures using chalk. Here are some pictures of our learning.
The children enjoyed sharing their work with parents, showing them the different activities they have completed while learning about the jungle and the animals that live there. They then had lots of fun getting the parents involved in different creative activities in the classroom.
After learning about the changes that happen to trees and leaves at this time of year we used the leaves we had collected to develop our Art skills. We used wax crayons to create leaf rubbings to help us to see the patterns on the leaves and also used paint to create leaf prints.
