Paired reading

At the end of a hard day, year 1 like to pair up and read each other stories from our book corner, some children make up their own stories.  They are all getting in to the pirate theme. We hope you like our new book corner.  What is your favourite story?

Measuring in Maths

Year 1 have been measuring different objects in maths.  They have been been using cubes and estimating how long objects are.

“The table is 55 cubes long”

“The table is longer than the chair”

” Naina is taller than me ”

” Me and Joshua are the same height”

1C Pirate PE

What a glorious day for our Pirate PE lesson.  During the PE lesson the year 1’s became pirates.  They took on different missions that a pirate might face.  They learnt how to balance, for when there are stormy seas ahead, jump the cannon and walk the plank.  We finished the lesson with our Portside Pirate book.  Well done year 1.  You all past the pirates tests.

Astronaut food tasting.

Year 1 are in the process of making their rockets to space, however to ensure they are ready for their mission they need to know what astronauts eat in space.  Year 1 were very excited but nervous about tasting the food.  Some of the children enjoyed the dried bananas and went back for more.  Do you think year 1 are ready for their mission now?

Thank you Daniel and Henry for sharing your space food from the National Space Centre, you are true astronauts.
