Year one went to Calthorpe Haven to investigate what plants have grown and how they have changed. BUT to their shock they found many other very interesting things. They used their investigation skills and asked a lot of questions to help them find out the answers to the questions below:
What are these objects? Whose could they be? Who would have put them there? Why are they there?

Year 1 enjoyed coming dressed up as characters from books and films and to celebrate world book day and also sponsored sports relief.

Today all the children dressed up as princesses and super heroes. All of us are having fun. Janis

Today we have had a great day supporting Sports Relief. Children and parents in key stage 1 have been walking/running around the playground to raise money for Sports Relief. Everybody dressed up and in year 1 we had a fairytale theme. We had a great time, please take a look at our pictures.

Over the last two days 1N have been retelling the story of Jack and the Beanstalk. Children have had the chance to draw and write story maps and make their own role-play masks of the characters. Also they had the chance in groups to narrate and role-play their own story and have their story recorded with a flip cam. Please take a look!

Today in 1N we have been tasting different fruits (oranges, raisins, bananas and apples). We have been using our taste senses to describe what we like. After tasting all of the fruits we recorded our favourite fruit and explained why. Some of us also recorded our least favourite fruit and explained why. Please take a look at our pictures.

This week 1N have started their new topic, Ready, Steady, Grow. Today we went on a vegetable hunt. We dug up some vegetables (potatoes and onions) to make some soup. Please take a look at our pictures.

In 1N we have learnt about Valentines Day, how it is celebrated and why we celebrate it. We got to make heart biscuits following instructions. Also we got to make cards for our family members. Please take a look at our pictures.

In 1N we had a letter from newsround asking us to record a news repot about an alien landing in Calthorpe Haven.  We all had different roles including a camera person, a director, a reporter and an eye witness.  Please take a look at some of our reports.

Today in 1N we have learnt about Chinese New Year. We have made a Chinese New Year Dragon. We made a body, a face and some wings. Some of us made Chinese Animal Masks and others made Chinese New Year Cards. We have been busy all afternoon. Please take a look at our pictures.

Today in year 1 we were told an alien had landed in Calthorpe Haven, so we went over to investigate to see what we could find. We saw that a spaceship had crashed and there was green slime and footprints. We talked as a group what we thought had happened. We then went back to school. When we arrived, an alien appeared on the screeen asking us for help to get him back to his home.

We then wrote a letter telling him about us and asking him questions about himself and we told him that we would help him build his spaceship. Please take a look at our pictures.
