‘Switched On’ is Year 4’s new topic! ‘Switched On’ is based on electiricty and anything to do with it.
On Friday 2nd November, Year 4, went on a trip to the ThinkTank musem in Birmingham. They learnt more about electirity and how things work. We watched a show called ‘Electrifiying Sience’ where we watched a lady talk and show things about electricity. I learnt that there are diffrent kinds of electricity and they are current electricity and static electricity. Current electricity is electricity in our homes and static electricity is electricity in our bodies.
Next, we went to a place called, ‘The Past’ where we looked at steam engines and industrial machinery from the past.
Then, we went to a place called, ‘ The Street ‘ where we learnt about day to day life on the streets. There was a zebra crossing and some traffic lights there to show that the place was about streets. I learnt how things were recycled and what happens when things get recycled.
After, we went to a place called ” All about me ‘ where we learnt about our body. We did an exersise dance and we had to follow what the little man on the screen was doing. Some children were soon tired; others still had lots of energy.
Finally, we went to a place called ‘ The Future ‘ where we learnt about robots and things in the future. There was a giant robot and you had to press buttons to make it work.
I had a fabulous time there and I learnt lots of new things.
I like our topic swiched on because I like learning all about electricity and it is fun.
Wow Serena ! I can see you have learnt a lot from our trip to Think Tank. You will certainly have no problems with your topic homework this week. What items around your home have you found so far? Do they give off light, sound, heat or movement?
