This week in Writers Workshop Year 4 wrote their own version of ‘The Hare and the Tortoise’.
They could choose any speedy animal that they wished such as a cheetah, Rhino or an eagle but they had to include the tortoise.

To help us describe the tortoise Miss Martindale bought her per tortoise to school to visit for the day.
How would you describe George? How did he move? What was his shell like?
Did you enjoy meeting him?
Would you like to see George again?

What ‘wow words’ did you use this week? Please share them here so that others can learn these words too.

  1. He was so cute. He is is the second tortoise I have held. Here are some sentences to describe him:

George ploddeded along strecthing his minature, scaly legs. His hard shell was surprising smooth. Tiny claws are not making any diifrence to how lovely it feels to have him crawl all over your hand.

  2. Geroge was adorable.Thankyou Miss Martindale for bringing him in.I really got an idea of what I would write in writers workshop.

  3. Ayesha- I made that mistake too. I t is because when we first got George we thought she was a boy and now I just can’t stop calling her ‘him’. So it is MY FAULT!

  6. George was so cute. But he was very slow at crawling around. She’s quiet prickly and scaly on his shell. I wish you can bring him in again Miss Martindale.
