Children created and added clues to their character pockets to guess and then identify their famous person. Children folded over felt squares and then stitched along both edges to create a simple pocket/purse. Inside the pockets children included facts about why they were famous and other clues.

Year 2 Grace Darling
Children used music and drama to tell the story of Grace Darling. Graces dramatic rescue of passengers, from the shipwrecked boat. Children used props and musical instruments to create stormy music. Children had different roles:
- Narrators
- Musicians
- Actors

Y2’s Modern Day Ford Car
Children in y2 have used art/DT skills to create a modern day Ford car. They decided how they will show their understanding of modern day cars to Henry Ford.
Children used:
- Junk modelling
- collage materials.
Y2 Estimate and Measure Length
Today in numeracy children were measuring real bikes. Children choose the correct measuring equipment to measure the parts of the bikes, toy cars and tools.
Y2 Time Travel! (new topic this term)
Year 2 have found an old suitcase in the centre of the carpet in their classrooms, surrounded by “dust” and glitter.
- Who has left the bag?
- Where has it come from?
- What clues do we have?
What we found inside the suitcase was:
- A letter from the time traveler
- Glasses
- Log book
- Old photos
- Birth Certificate

Year 2 Discovery Day!
Children have been busy cooking food this morning for their topic “Come Dine With Me” from different countries in their groups (i.e. India, China, Jamaica and Italy.)
They cooked:
- Italian pasta
- Chapattis with cucumber/mint dip from India
- Chinese vegetable stir fry
- Jamaican banana cake
After lunch both classrooms were restaurants and they had “Round The World Feast”. The teachers acted as waitresses to serve food.
Year 2 “Food Faces”
Children created a “food face” pictures by cutting out different fruits/vegetables pictures with different facial features, like a banana for the mouth and
apples for the eyes.
Y2 Planning Plant Investigation
Children set up their experiments and placed their pots in the destinations decided last week. Children used cotton wool instead of soil and cress seeds with a tiny bit of water. Children shared ideas and told each other what is happening at each stage and what needs to happen next.
