Parents Phonic Meeting

Parents are invited to our phonic sessions next week.  Your attendance is vital at this session.  We shall be demonstrating a phonics lesson to you (so you can see how your child is taught in the classroom), and we will also be talking to you about how you can support your child at home.

These sessions shall be as follows:

Class RS – Tuesday 25th September 2012 – 9am

Class RD – Wednesday 26th September 2012 – 9am

We look forward to seeing you there!

Welcome!!

We would like to extend a warm welcome to all new children and parents to Reception!

Throughout the year parental involvment is vital for every child’s success.  We expect parents to support their children every night; reading your child a story, practising their new phonic sound with them and how to form the letter correctly, ensuring your child can write their name (with a capital letter at the start and all the rest lower case) and practising counting and numbers with your child.

All members of our team are here to help you with any concerns or questions you may have.  Feel free to talk to us before or after school.

We look forward to another exciting, hard working year ahead!!

Well done!!!

We would like to congratulate all children on their superb progress throughout Reception.  You have all grown to be kind, caring, hard working individuals and we are so proud of each and every one of you.  Thank you to parents who have supported their children on this journey.  Please continue to work with your child over the summer holiday, to ensure that they are ready for Year One in September.

Have a relaxing (safe!) summer, and we look forward to seeing you all in the playground in September!

Inspire Workshop

Thank you to all the parents that attended the Inspire workshop this morning, it was a lovely opportunity to support your child in a phonics lesson then complete various numeracy and literacy activities. Make sure you continue to support your child’s learning over the summer in preparation for Year One!

Magic Carpet to India!

Last week as part of our topic on Journeys we travelled to India. We were making mendhi patterns, looking at non-fiction books, colouring in flags, constructing the Taj Mahal and learning some traditional Asian dancing, it was lots of fun!

Visit to the Travel Agents!

Last week Reception visited the local Travel Agents in small groups. We looked at travel brochures about our favourite countries and discussed with the staff how we could book a holiday there! When we got back to school we all worked hard to turn our role play area into a Travel Agent.

Journey to India

Next week, as part of our new topic ‘Journeys’ we shall be learning about India. If your child had been lucky enough to go to India, it would be fantastic if you could bring in some photographs or artefacts from their time there.

Reception’s Teddy Bears Picnic!!!

Reception shall be having a Teddy Bear’s Picnic on Friday 15th June 2012, and all parents are invited to come and join us!  All children will be asked to bring their teddy bear with them, and we shall be eating jam sandwiches and playing lots of games over at Calthorpe Haven.  Please bring a blanket for you and your child to sit on.  It should be a lot of fun and we hope to see as many of you there as possible.

Our next topic will be Journeys…

Our topic next half term is going to be “Journeys.” We will start by introducing the story ‘We’re going on a Bear Hunt’ and talking about journeys that the children have been on. Over the half term, watch this video with your child and discuss any exciting journeys you have been on together.
