Thank you to all the parent’s who joined us for our craft workshop. It was lovely seeing everyone making beautiful Christmas crafts together.

This half term we have been finding out about lots of different celebrations. We have enjoyed finding out about birthdays, weddings, carnivals and how people celebrate Diwali. We made our own diva lamps using play dough and made a diwali card. We also had a day finding out about Poppy’s and why people wear them for Remembrance Day.

We have been learning all about Autumn. We looked at how the trees change when the leaves turn orange, red, yellow and brown. We have talked about how the leaves fall off the trees. We had lots of fun pretending to make pumpkin soup after reading the story “Pumpkin soup”. The pumpkin was interesting to touch and smell, we noticed lots of seeds and that some parts were slimy to touch.

To help strengthen our tummy muscles we have been drawing lying down on our backs under the table.

We started the year learning all about feelings and emotions. We read the book “The colour monster”. We made large colour monster to go on our walls by printing onto paper.

This week we have read the story Three Billy Goats Gruff. We have had lots of fun constructing bridges this week to help the goats cross the river and get away from the troll. Children have made bridges using recycled materials as well as wooden blocks and Duplo. They really had to think about making the bridges strong enough for the goats to get across.

We have been creative making play dough trolls. Some children even made play dough cakes to give to the troll so they wouldn’t eat the goats.

We have enjoyed reading the story of Little Red Riding Hood. We were all very creative this week and made different parts to build up a picture. On Monday we decorated the paper using tissue paper to make the sky and forest. Tuesday we made little Red Riding Hood and Wednesday we made a house using different textures. Finally on Thursday we made a wolf.

This week, when parents came to play, we made baskets to take to Grandma.
