My trip to Bristol zoo. By Udeshpal

On Saturday 4th June 2011 I went to Bristol zoo with my family. It was magnificent. When I got there I saw west lowland gorillas. Did you know that west lowland gorillas are related to apes, orangutans, chimpanzees, man and other gorilla species. Then I saw lots and lots of meercats and the best habitats for them are deserts, semi deserts or grasslands. After a while I saw some Asiatic lions and they are only allowed 2-3 cubs. When I finished looking around I saw loads of rainbow lorikeets and some red pandas. Also I saw loads of ring tailed lemurs and dr. bazaar monkeys. Did you know that ring tailed lemurs are related to mongooses, aye aye, Indri, and sifaka. When we looked all around the zoo we went home and then had an ice cream. And that was my trip to Bristol zoo.

Our day at Dudley zoo by Kamal

Yesterday year 4 went to Dudley zoo. We went on a coach. When we first arrived at Dudley zoo the first animal enclosure we saw was the lions. First we saw a lioness lying down then we went further on and saw a male lion with a huge mane also lying down. But then the lion got up and saw a woman in a car which was built into the wall so you could see the Lions up close. Then the lion started jumping up on the car. Then the lion spotted us and started roaring at us then we roared back so we took it in turns. After that we saw other animals like the flamingo and the meerkat, chimpanzee, giraffe and a bear the last animal we saw was the flamingo. The flamingo is red because they eat a special plant that makes it red because it has a red pigment in it. My favourite animal was the yellow rock bymese python because I loved its bright yellow colour and because of the interesting facts that I heard about it. I heard that it can eat a full grown rat in one gulp. It body length was 16 to 23feet long. There was also a green and black python which was bigger. Hammaad favourite animal was the lion because it was funny when he roared at us and we roared back also he climbed on top of the car that the zoo keeper was in. we were going to buy an ice cream but we could not because the roof had collapsed in the cafe and all the electrics was gone but instead we brought souvenirs from the gift shop. The zoo had very fascinating animals like the worlds smallest monkey and we also saw giraffes and a tarantula. It was very funny at lunch time because when were eating are lunch some peacocks came and tried to pinch our sandwiches!

We saw a tiger as well and one of the members of Dudley zoo did a talk about the Serbian tiger but sadly they can no longer be found in Serbia and so they have changed the name to Amur tiger. I enjoyed Dudley zoo yesterday. My least favourite animal was the peacocks because they kept coming by my table at lunch time and it made some people feel uneasy. a member of staff also told us about the sea lions. We wanted to go into an exhibit with monkeys in it but we could not because a monkey had just had a baby and so she needed privacy.

Amazing ordering in maths by Max

Today in maths we were ordering decimal and whole numbers to do with the Olympics. Some people were ordering 5 digit numbers too. We even watched Usain Bolt run 100 metres and break the new world record! Everyone loved watching that! It was really fun because it was’nt like ordering boring numbers we were ordering how far the teachers and real life Olympic athletes can throw the javelin, discus or shotput and how fast they can run. The teachers said they had an athletics competition over the half term but we weren’t sure if they were teasing us!

Report Writing By Karolina and Sabina

Today we have been writing our reports instead of the teachers doing it all! We had to think carefully so we could tell our parents what we are good at and what we need to improve. We had to be really independent and honest. Today we focused on Literacy. We had to include things about our writing and drama which help us get better with our writing. At first we felt nervous but after we got into it we got more confident. We had to be specific in our writing when we where telling our parents what we enjoyed most and what we need to improve next year. We really enjoyed writing them because we were really grown up and it was fun to remember all the fun work we have done.
