2S Forest School – Week 3
This week we tried our hands at creating art work using what we could find around us at Forest School… We knew about an artist called Andy Goldsworthy and talked about some of his art works. What do you think of our efforts..?
Out & About – Visiting St. Mary’s Church
This week we have visited St. Mary’s Church in Bearwood. The Reverend Perry talked about the different parts of the building and how they were used by Christians to worship. We looked at designs and materials too. What a wonderful building it was! Take a look at the photos:
Comic Relief 2019
Today we have dressed up in red clothes for Comic Relief and donated at least a pound each to go to the charity. All of that money will end up helping people, young and old, who aren’t as lucky as us in our country and in African and other international countries. Here is a link to the official Comic Relief website:
World Book Day 2019
We have had great fun dressing up today and listening to stories like ‘The Tiger-Skin Rug’ by Gerald Rose. Take a look at our outfits below and there is also a link further down to a cartoon of the story.
2S Forest School – Week 2
This week we had a fantastic time playing Team building games at Calthorpe Haven. We started off with a game called Mingle where we had to mingle amongst each other, then when the teacher called out something like, “BLUE!”, we had to team up with someone wearing blue.
Next we played a game where we were in teams of around 10 and we had to stand on a small square of tarpaulin and hold on to each other. Then we had to fold over the tarpaulin in half, then try and fit on. We had to keep folding the tarpaulin in half and keep trying to fit on or touching the tarpaulin. It was really tricky but so much fun!!! It helped if we were looking after each other, helping each other, and being patient.
Finally, we played a game where we had to hold on to each other’s hands and pass a hoop, which sounds easy but we couldn’t break the circle and tried not to have to start again! We had to solve how to get the hoop along and we encouraged each other in kind ways.
2S Forest School – Week 1
We had a great time exploring at Forest School this week… Spot us doing things like: playing in the Willow Tunnel, climbing trees, spotting buds and blossom, trying out the Mud Kitchen or playing instruments…!
We also planted our sunflower seeds this week and will be monitoring them to see how they grow…
Road Safety – Staying safe when you’re out and about
This week we have talked about staying safe near roads. We have a Pelican Crossing by school. Remember to press the button, WAIT (look across the road to spot the Red Man standing still). It’s safe to cross when you hear the beeping sound and look across for the Green Man walking. Make sure that cars stop before you cross! Also, hold your adult’s hand! Always Stop, Look, Listen and Think. Don’t forget to ‘Be Bright & Be Seen’ in the dark.Watch the hedgehogs road safety advice:
