Master chefs at work!!

For our final topic outcome we were going to invite our parents into school to try some of the food from around the world that we had made in class, so we were master chefs all morning!!

We used our literacy skills to carefully read and follow the instructions from the recipes, numeracy skills to sensibly weigh out and measure the ingredients and sharing power to work together to make the yummy cakes.

We made cakes and rice crispy cakes in the colours of the Italian and Chinese flag so we needed lots of creativity power too!

Look at us hard at work…….

Delectable Italian pizza!

We designed our own Italian pizzas as part of our Come Dine with Me topic. We decided what ingredients we wanted to add, and which herbs we wanted to try. We carefully chopped the ingredients, put them onto the bread with the tomato and sprinkle on the herbs. next we cooked them and last of all we gobbled them up!  “Oooo! They taste delectable” said Aisha as she took a big bite!

Weaving

image image                We have been learning about Italy as part of our Come dine with Me topic. We have learnt about the flag of Italy, the money they use called euros and what the farmers in Italy grow. We used our creativity and persistence power to do some weaving to make Italian flag place mats ready for our end of topic picnic.              Juwayriyyah

Come Dine with Me

Our new topic got off to an exciting start this week as children entered class to 4 tables filled with books, information and tasty food from around the world. Children were asked to use their curiosity power to explore books, find out about the flags and taste delicious food from China, Italy, Jamaic and India. Children then used their sharing power to explain to others what they had learnt.

Children in Year 2 were given the choice about which 2 countries they wished to learn about this half term and after a nail biting vote they decided…..Italy and China.

Our 3D model of Pudding Lane

2s worked really hard to design and make their 3D model of Pudding Lane. We designed and made our houses, adding lots of detail to make them look like they were from the past. We created a bakers shop to show where the fire  started and made all the houses close together just like in London in 1666. We added flames, boats and people escaping the fire. Tell us what you think of our model.
