Three Billy Goats Gruff

This week we have read the story Three Billy Goats Gruff. We have had lots of fun constructing bridges this week to help the goats cross the river and get away from the troll. Children have made bridges using recycled materials as well as wooden blocks and Duplo. They really had to think about making the bridges strong enough for the goats to get across.

We have been creative making play dough trolls. Some children even made play dough cakes to give to the troll so they wouldn’t eat the goats.

Little Red Riding Hood

We have enjoyed reading the story of Little Red Riding Hood. We were all very creative this week and made different parts to build up a picture. On Monday we decorated the paper using tissue paper to make the sky and forest. Tuesday we made little Red Riding Hood and Wednesday we made a house using different textures. Finally on Thursday we made a wolf.

This week, when parents came to play, we made baskets to take to Grandma.

Gingerbread Man

We read the story and all joined in saying the rhyme Run run as fast as you can you can’t catch me I’m the Gingerbread Man.
All the children had fun making Gingerbread and then cutting out a Gingerbread man. When they were cooked the children decorated them using icing. We hope they all enjoyed eating them at home.

Goldilocks

This half term we have been looking at different fairy stories and traditional tales. We read the story Goldilocks and have done lots of activities about the characters.
We had a tray full of porridge oats which we used to empty and fill different sized bowls. We pretended to be Goldilocks eating all the porridge and we fed the three bears. We even wrote letters in the oats.
Some children made porridge and then had their own bowl to try.
