Morning Nursery role play

Today we used our role play area to visit a holiday home in the country. We prepared meals for each other then settled down in front of an open fire for stories and songs.

Afternoon Nursery at the library

Thank you to all our parents who took the time to join us for our afternoon Nursery session at Thimblemill library.

We really enjoyed listening to our storyteller, Gavin, and using our local library to borrow great books to take home.

Amazing Animals

After a fantastic half term looking at all things under the sea, we now look forward to our new theme for after the half term break…

Amazing Animals will be our new topic and allow us to explore all the different animals in our world, from wild animals, pets and vets, life on a farm and animals in the zoo.

Please support your child with some pre-learning by taking the time to talk to them about different animals and their habitats, where they live, what they do, what they eat, how we care for them…..

If you have the time, a trip to a farm or zoo may be a good opportunity to see some of the animals we will be learning about in a real life setting! Or maybe you have pets at home that you can talk about or bring pictures into school to show your friends?

We are really looking forward to our new topic and hope our children will enjoy learning about the many animals we share our world with.

Deconstructed Role Play

Welcome to a role play where the only limit is your own imagination!

What will you create? Who will you be? Where will you go?

Our new deconstructed role play room allows children the freedom to create, explore and extend their creative abilities by using open-ended resources.

So far we have been under the sea to a dark cave, visited a desert island in the sun, waded through a sticky swamp, took a ride in a taxi, camped out in the woods, locked a princess in a castle, put the dog outside in a kennel we built, built a new car park and been on an adventure with Sonic the hedgehog!

Where will our imaginations take us to next?

Our new topic for January 2018

After the holiday our half term topic will be ‘Under the Sea’.

We have already been preparing ourselves by creating our new water world role play room and jolly octopus display.

It would be helpful if you could take some time to talk to your child about the sea and the creatures that live there. Maybe take a trip to the library to explore some non fiction books about fish or even visit the Sea-life centre!

We look forward to a fantastic start to 2018 and continue to thank all parents for their help and support.
